Carrier has announced that its latest i-Vu Touch user interface, available in Q2 2014, will offer enhanced capabilities through a new, intuitive touch-screen interface. The i-Vu Touch interface will be available in two models: the i-Vu Equipment Touch, which manages a single piece of Carrier equipment, and the i-Vu System Touch, which can manage all Carrier equipment in a facility. Carrier, the world’s leader in high-technology heating, air-conditioning and refrigeration solutions, is a part of UTC Building & Industrial Systems, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).
The i-Vu Touch interface features an illuminated 4.3 inch, 480 x 272 color pixel display with a streamlined silver faceplate. It can be mounted in the controlled space and includes a built-in temperature and humidity sensor. The i-Vu Touch interface displays the indoor and outdoor conditions for occupants, and allows them to adjust setpoints and occupancy mode easily. Facility managers have the added benefit of managing building schedules and alarms, as well as the configuration of the attached equipment. The i-Vu Touch interface also supports multiple languages and includes multi-level password protection for security.
The i-Vu Touch can be used in conjunction with the i-Vu web-based user interface for added flexibility. When combined, facility managers can manage equipment locally using the i-Vu Touch, and still manage equipment remotely using
i-Vu.
The i-Vu Touch interface offers simple four-wire installation and auto-discovers the attached equipment. Graphical touch-screen files are displayed automatically for each piece of equipment. Comprehensive help screens are included to assist installers with equipment configuration and service. The ViewBuilder software tool is also provided to allow customization of the built-in equipment screens.
“Carrier continues to provide innovative building control systems and solutions and the i-Vu Touch interface is the next stage in our evolution,” said Mark Jones, business manager, Carrier controls. “Now building owners can manage all Carrier equipment in their facility with the convenience of a single touch-screen device.”
