Carrier is pleased to announce the newest addition to its BACnet router portfolio, the high speed i-Vu® XT BACnet router. The i-Vu XT router serves as an integral component of the i-Vu building automation system, enabling simultaneous routing between BACnet/IP, BACnet Ethernet, BACnet MS/TP and BACnet ARCnet networks while also auto-discovering the BACnet controllers on those networks. Carrier, a world leader in high-technology heating, ventilating and air-conditioning solutions, is a part of UTC Climate, Controls & Security, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).

The i-Vu XT router is 45 percent smaller than its predecessor and is DIN-rail or surface mountable. It has three BACnet communication ports to simultaneously route and share data across a wide range of building subsystems including a 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet port for BACnet/IP and BACnet/Ethernet communications, a high-speed EIA-485 port for BACnet/ARCNET or BACnet MS/TP communications and an electrically isolated EIA-485 port for BACnet/MSTP communications. A communications expansion port is also included to support additional network connections, making the product adaptable by simply plugging in new expansion modules.

“We are excited to add the new i-Vu XT router as another plug-and-play component of the i-Vu building automation system,” says Mark Jones, business manager, Carrier Controls. “It enables our i-Vu system to connect seamlessly to the building network, helping facility’s staff manage occupant comfort and energy efficiency throughout their entire facility.”

The i-Vu XT router can serve as a BACnet broadcast management device and supports foreign device registration. DHCP IP addressing is also supported and a 10/100 Mbps Ethernet port is included for configuring, commissioning and troubleshooting the i-Vu XT router through a standard web browser. It was designed to include increased processing horsepower and on-board memory, which may help support future enhancements and is also backwards compatible with existing Carrier control systems to protect existing customer investments.
