Encompass System (ES) i-Vu Pro

There are many different skill sets in the life of a field technician — engineering, IT infrastructure, technical support, and computer programming, to name a few. This ES training will prepare field technicians and engineers to confidently install, commission, and troubleshoot an i-Vu Pro installation. This course is designed to develop an efficient field technician and engineer for a job site right away.

The ES i-Vu Pro course is intended for new and existing Carrier® Controls Expert ES level technicians to ensure they can properly use and setup an i-Vu® Pro system in the field. This course is a required component for both new and existing ES level technicians.

Learning Objectives

  • Start-up a typical i-Vu Pro system
  • Perform advanced system and network troubleshooting

Learning Methods Used

This course is instructor-led in a classroom setting with extensive hands-on tasks to present the material. Student’s achievement of the learning objectives is determined by successful completion of the course, and final written exam.

Topics Covered

Creating a system database

  • Start SiteBuilder
  • Create a new system (job) database in SiteBuilder 
  • Install the latest cumulative patch

Setting up IP network communications

  • Set a controller’s custom UP address
  • Change the router configuration
  • Prepare the local server for communications
  • Run the i-Vu Pro server

Setup a BACnet/IP connection in the i-Pro interface

  • Setup a BACnet/IP connection 
  • Check the IP connection between the i-Vu server and router 
  • Find and upload Routers and Controllers

Control programs for programmable controllers 

  • Create control programs using EquipmentBuilder
  • Add control programs and graphics for downloading to the controllers

Create Navigation tree for the User View 

  • Arrange the Navigation Tree

Commission Equipment 

  • Check out point setup 
  • Investigate download options
  • Change or upgrade a driver
  • Add a touch file for a controller
  • Monitor and control equipment 
  • Lock a BACnet Point

Setting up the system in the i-Vu Pro interface

  • Getting to know the i-Vu Pro interface 
  • My settings 
  • System Settings
  • Adding links or text to the i-Vu Pro login page
  • Import clippings
  • Run an i-Vu pro system as a Windows service 
  • Configure i-Vu Pro to start as a windows service

Materials Required

Learners will be provided a laptop with i-Vu Pro v8.0 to use for this course.

Class hours

Classes run 8am-5pm EDT.

Location & lodging

Kennesaw, Georgia, unless noted otherwise. An email with directions to the facility and lodging information will be provided once the class is confirmed, approximately 3 weeks prior to start date.
