Carrier Commercial Refrigeration Unlocks Smart, Sustainable Heat Production with New HeatCO2OL Range

RUEIL-MALMAISON, France -

Carrier Commercial Refrigeration has underlined its continued commitment to decarbonization through the launch of its innovative HeatCO 2 OL range of heat pumps. Featuring a compact, efficient design that uses renewable energy sources, Carrier’s portfolio of HeatCO 2 OL products can reduce carbon emissions and help customers accelerate their sustainability efforts, all delivered with a low total cost of ownership. Carrier Commercial Refrigeration is a part of Carrier Global Corporation (NYSE: CARR), global leader in intelligent climate and energy solutions.

The HeatCO2OL heat pump’s innovative design draws power from both natural and what would otherwise be wasted heat sources and combines this with the use of carbon dioxide (CO2) as a natural refrigerant – which is non-flammable, non-toxic, non-corrosive and has a global warming potential (GWP) of only 1. This offers a more sustainable energy supply solution to heat or cool commercial buildings, district heating grids, as well as a range of industrial processes.

“Using renewable energy presents a solution to sustainably heat more homes, stores and offices,” said Gary Fuller, European Industrial Sales Manager, Carrier Commercial Refrigeration. “The HeatCO2OL range can sit at the heart of any ‘smart city,’ offering an environmentally responsible energy solution that can help customers of all sizes reduce their carbon footprint.”

The HeatCO2OL units can supplement traditional boilers with hot water up to 90°C, as well as provide sustainable cooling that can replace existing comfort or process chillers. Three different temperature grades can be managed simultaneously on the same system, and by connecting units in parallel, customers can gain access to a heating capacity between 40kW and 8MW. Factoring in the HeatCO2OL’s ultra-compact design, the system provides an ideal solution for a wide array of applications.

The unit’s highly efficient design also results in a significant reduction of both direct and indirect emissions.

Additionally, the HeatCO2OL range delivers low total cost of ownership to customers, courtesy of the system’s premium quality components. Every HeatCO2OL heat pump receives leak and electrical testing for reliability and peace of mind.

Customers can also access Carrier Commercial Refrigeration’s remote monitoring and preventive maintenance technology to further extend product lifespan and optimise the efficient use of their systems.

Carrier is committed to offering the best refrigerant according to the requirements of each application and customer requirements.

The HeatCO2OL systems contribute to Carrier’s goal of reducing its customers’ carbon footprint by one gigaton as part of its 2030 Environmental, Social and Governance goals. For more information, visit carrier-refrigeration.com or follow @SmartColdChain on Twitter.
