Major Contract for Sports Event with Consequences: Carrier Rental Systems Plans Largest European Depot for Rental Equipment

Ismaning, Germany -

Carrier Rental Systems, a division of Carrier Klimatechnik GmbH, secured and successfully executed contracts this summer for the temporary air conditioning of ten sports venues nationwide, as well as several additional facilities for an international sports event. To ensure that all other customers could be served without restrictions during the events, the company invested significantly in expanding its rental equipment fleet. As the expanded fleet is to be maintained in the future and to meet the growing demand for rental solutions, Carrier Rental Systems will establish a new depot in Gelsenkirchen with up to 25,000 square meters of usable space indoors and outdoors. This will create the largest depot of Carrier Rental Systems in Europe. Carrier Klimatechnik GmbH is part of Carrier Global Corporation (NYSE:CARR), the world's leading provider of intelligent climate and energy solutions.

The contracts for air conditioning the sports venues presented the Carrier team with complex tasks. "The contracts included planning, simultaneous delivery and installation of equipment, control technology, a standby service by our technicians during the events, and the subsequent dismantling of the machines," explains Christoph Wolny, Sales Representative for the Central Region, responsible for the project at Carrier Rental. The need for temporary additional air conditioning arose due to the increased number of visitors, press representatives, helpers, and staff during the events. Individual rooms of the sports venues were redesigned or used differently than in normal operation. For example, corridors were repurposed as lounges, certain functions were outsourced to tents next to the sports venues, and additional canteens were set up. Several press centers were created in tent cities, where IT and workspaces needed to be air-conditioned.

"One of the biggest challenges was adapting our solutions to different requirements and the existing architecture of the sports venues," reports Wolny. "These had to be coordinated individually with each local operator. This ranged from the location of the machines to the manufacture of adapters for integration into the existing technology, to details such as the size and color of the air hoses." In addition to providing rental equipment, Carrier also delivered complex control technology services through its own controls department.

Another challenge was the complex organization and logistics. Tight schedules for simultaneous setup at the various locations had to be adhered to. Thanks to the intensive efforts of all involved, this largest overall contract of Carrier Rental was successfully completed. The new warehouse in Gelsenkirchen marks another milestone and underscores Carrier's commitment to growth and innovation in the rental solutions sector.
