Carrier and IWBI™ Hosted Webinar Driving WELL at Scale Program

At the recent Carrier Engineering Webinar: Pursuing Sustainability for Existing Buildings, jointly held by Carrier Hong Kong Limited, International WELL Building Institute™ (IWBI™) and Environmental Market Solutions Inc. (EMSI), evaluation on the performance of buildings towards sustainability, health and well-being was advocated.

Regarding the constraints imposed by the metropolitan scale, modifying and upgrading existing buildings has gained societal acceptance. It was highlighted how adoption of WELL™ at Scale to existing buildings can meet the growing demand for healthy and high-performing assets. Mr. Richard Chang, WELL AP, WELL Faculty, ARB, RIBA, Vice President of IWBI™ covered specific projects with WELL™ at Scale program in proofing building owners’ commitments for improving human health and well-being. Ms. Yan Zhang, WELL AP, Senior Associate of IWBI™ stressed that WELL™ prioritise health and create value for properties in elevating health and well-being for occupants. Ten testing and verification wellness concepts are laid out for facilities manager to understand aspects of well-being used to benchmark environment’s performance.

Mr. Yifeng Xu, PMP, LEED AP, WELL AP, Senior Business Development Manager from EMSI addressed operations' requirement for current portfolio monitoring and management by providing specialised solutions for building operations optimisation. A recent successful project with microclimate CFD analysis, retrofit costing and execution was demonstrated to industry players as a reminder to upgrade their facilities for a considerate and sustainable setting.

To pave the way for a more sustainable and thoughtful built environment, building owners and facilities management should collaboratively invest more on their building portfolio and build more people-first places.
