Carrier India's Manufacturing Facility Receives Platinum Certification from Indian Green Building Council

Carrier’s India HVAC factory has been awarded Platinum certification by the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC). The accreditation for maintaining green building standards under the IGBC Green Factory Building Ratings is a milestone for the 33-year-old factory located on Carrier’s Gurugram Haryana campus. Carrier is a part of Carrier Global Corporation (NYSE: CARR), the leading global provider of healthy, safe, sustainable and intelligent building and cold chain solutions.

“The Platinum certification for an older factory is an example of how we are investing in our factories and operations, optimizing existing methods and innovating new digitally enabled solutions to drive down energy consumption,” said Chirag Baijal, Managing Director, Commercial HVAC, Carrier India.

Acquiring the IGBC Platinum certification requires a concerted and diligent effort to achieve multiple, non-negotiable standards provided by IGBC. These measures include use of renewable energy with solar power, adding a high-solar reflective coating on the factory roof, partial use of cleaner fuel in captive generation, rainwater harvesting for recharging the groundwater table, reuse of treated water and planting of drought-tolerant greenery.

“Our commitment to the environment has resulted in achieving an absolute reduction in water usage by 36% and greenhouse gas emissions by 31%,” said Rahul Jain, Director of Manufacturing Operations, Carrier India. “Through a united effort, we have increased the amount of waste being recycling by more than 97%.”

India’s manufacturing plant is the latest Carrier facility to earn green building certification. These global efforts support Carrier’s 2030 Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) Goal of achieving carbon neutral operations by 2030.
