Carrier First to Achieve Eurovent Certification for Free Cooling Air-Cooled Chillers Designed for Data Centres

LONDON, UK -

Carrier has become the first manufacturer to achieve Eurovent Certified Performance for free cooling air-cooled process chillers specifically designed for data centre applications. This milestone underscores Carrier’s leadership in HVAC innovation and commitment to verified performance. Carrier is part of Carrier Global Corporation (NYSE: CARR), global leader in intelligent climate and energy solutions.

Eurovent Certified Performance is a globally recognised mark of operational excellence, guaranteeing manufacturers’ performance claims through independent testing and evaluation. Carrier’s AquaForce® 30XF free cooling air-cooled process chillers are now certified for their energy-efficient operation, offering data centres accurate predictions for annual energy consumption at different load situations. The certification also validates the unit’s Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER) and Seasonal Energy Performance Ratio (SEPR), key metrics that measure efficiency over time and across various operating conditions, rather than just peak performance.

"Carrier has long been a pioneer in delivering high-performance HVAC solutions, and this certification reinforces our commitment to transparency, reliability and innovation," said Michel Grabon, Product Marketing and Vertical Markets Engineering Director Carrier Commercial HVAC, EMEA. "Data centres demand precise, energy-efficient cooling. Even the most well designed and installed data centre will underperform if the expected product performance does not match the manufacturer’s claims. With this globally recognised certification, data centre operators can have complete confidence that our 30XF chiller can deliver the cooling and energy efficiency we claim."

The AquaForce® 30XF is designed to meet the stringent requirements of modern data centres, operating efficiently in outdoor air temperatures ranging from -20°C to 55°C, with cooling capacities between 390 kW and 2,100 kW. The unit features ultra-low GWP R-1234ze refrigerant, supporting sustainability goals, and 100% hydronic free cooling for reduced energy consumption.

The rigorous Eurovent third-party testing on the 30XF certifies all operational modes (free cooling, mechanical cooling, mixed cooling), ensuring resilience under varying data centre conditions.

"Carrier’s Eurovent certified free cooling air-cooled process chillers provide independently verified performance, giving data centre operators complete confidence in their cooling infrastructure," said Mustafa Dilsen, Head of Thermodynamics Commercial & Industrial Department, at Eurovent Certification. "This certification allows data centre operators to predict the cost of operation with high fidelity so they can optimise energy usage and meet stringent sustainability targets, all while maintaining the resilience and uptime that their operations demand."

As the first manufacturer to receive the Eurovent Certified Performance mark for free cooling air-cooled process chillers, Carrier reinforces its role as a technology leader in the data centre cooling market. This achievement highlights the company’s commitment to delivering energy-efficient, high-performance solutions that address the critical needs of the digital infrastructure industry.
