Carrier Introduces WeatherExpert Packaged Rooftop Units Optimized for High Outdoor Air Applications

CHARLOTTE, Nc. -

New units operate efficiently with up to 100% outdoor air

Carrier is expanding its line of WeatherExpert® packaged rooftop units with the new high outdoor air system, a light commercial rooftop unit capable of conditioning up to 100% outdoor air. Carrier is a part of Carrier Global Corporation (NYSE: CARR), global leader in intelligent climate and energy solutions.

The WeatherExpert high outdoor air system can operate with up to 100% outdoor air for ventilation or make-up air or building ventilation. WeatherExpert high outdoor air systems can pair with space air conditioning and heating systems, such as Carrier VRF, water source heat pumps or rooftop units, to provide a complete HVAC solution for schools, hotels or office buildings.

When a stand-alone solution is preferred, the WeatherExpert high outdoor air system can condition up to 50% outdoor air to provide heating, air conditioning, dehumidification and ventilation for retail spaces, gymnasiums, restaurants and other light commercial buildings.

“The demand for HVAC systems that can introduce high levels of outdoor air in occupied spaces has significantly increased in the last two years,” said Mark Rabbia, Director of Light Commercial Product Management, Carrier. “It’s not enough to just replace indoor air with fresh outdoor air more quickly, but rather to do so in a cost-effective and energy-efficient manner. High outdoor air applications require specific features and options to deliver solid, cost-effective performance under a wide range of operating conditions. These units deliver on all those fronts.”

The WeatherExpert high outdoor air systems are part of the WeatherExpert 48/50LC ultra high-efficiency rooftop unit family and achieve up to 13.1 EER full-load and 20.8 IEER part-load cooling efficiencies. All 48/50LC series units provide efficient cooling operation using three stages of cooling, fully-active evaporator and condenser coils, and electronically commutated (ECM) condenser fan motors.

The WeatherExpert high outdoor air systems are designated as models 48LC*H and 50LC*H and feature EcoBlue™ supply fans with ECM motors, a modulating low load protection valve and a fully modulating hot gas reheat (HGRH) system. The 48/50LC*H is available with new factory-installed options, including fully modulating gas or electric heat, double-wall construction and 4” MERV 13 filters.

All 48/50LC*H units feature Carrier SmartVu™ controls with a 7 inch high-visibility touchscreen display and intuitive menu system for easy setup and operation. The control can be configured for standalone, thermostat or networked operation and is compatible with the Carrier i-Vu® Building Automation System.

The Carrier WeatherExpert high outdoor air units will be available in nominal 6, 7.5, 10 and 15-ton cooling capacities. For more information, visit www.carrier.com/commercial.
