Carrier’s Charlotte Site Achieves Zero Waste to Landfill Certification
CHARLOTTE, N.C -
Milestone marks another step in Carrier’s progress toward its global zero waste to landfill commitment for manufacturing sites
Carrier announced today that its Charlotte, North Carolina manufacturing site has achieved zero waste to landfill certification, ensuring that all waste is being converted to energy and other uses rather than sent to a landfill. The Charlotte site is Carrier’s first commercial HVAC facility and fourth location globally to earn this designation. Carrier is a part of Carrier Global Corporation (NYSE: CARR), the leading global provider of healthy, safe, sustainable and intelligent building and cold chain solutions.
Carrier’s Charlotte facility reached this milestone through a rigorous waste reduction process in partnership with Heritage Interactive Services. Heritage awarded the certification after a three-month data review verifying 100% landfill diversion of all wastes through alternative management methods, including source reduction and reuse, recycling, energy recovery, and chemical and physical treatments.
“This certification demonstrates the great team we have and commitment to operating in a sustainable way,” said Joe Dueker, Charlotte Commercial HVAC Plant Manager, Carrier. “We continue to invest in the site and enhance our operations to be best positioned to deliver for our customers and the environment.”
The certification aligns with Carrier’s 2030 Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) goals, which include targeting carbon and water neutrality, achieving a 10% reduction in energy intensity and reaching zero waste to landfill across all of its operations.
