John Mackirdy Embraces Connected Fleet Management with Carrier Transicold’s Lynx Fleet Technology

WARRINGTON, England -

Scotland’s John Mackirdy Limited has enabled Carrier Transicold’s LynxTM Fleet digital platform across its temperature-controlled trailers. Using this technology, the company will further strengthen its cold chain management through the application of advanced Internet of Things (IoT), machine learning and analytics while also improving operational efficiency. Carrier Transicold is a part of Carrier Global Corporation (NYSE: CARR), global leader in intelligent climate and energy solutions.

After a successful trial of Lynx Fleet on a Vector® HE 19 MT unit in 2022, the Bute-based business is now using the technology across all its Carrier Transicold Vector-mounted trailers.

“Given our fleet is 100% Carrier-cooled, we’re no strangers to the company’s innovative approach to product development and so we were immediately drawn to the potential on offer through Lynx Fleet,” said Jack Mackirdy, Director, John Mackirdy Limited.  “Being able to remotely monitor metrics such as cargo temperature as well as quickly generate detailed reports are game changers for our business. Those abilities will allow us to provide a far more efficient service and ensure robust cold chain management.”

Thanks to Lynx Fleet, John Mackirdy can intelligently manage its Carrier Transicold assets by automating key processes. For instance, utilizing two-way remote commands, including set point control, engine running mode changes and defrost instructions can reduce fuel consumption by up to 15%*, contributing to Carrier’s goal of helping its customers avoid more than one gigaton of greenhouse gas emissions by 2030.

Lynx Fleet can grant end-to-end visibility of all cargo, as well as provide an intuitive way to drill down into specific variables, such as temperature at delivery, creating accurate reports in an instant. Temperature-out-of-range alarms, event notifications like door openings within specified geo-fenced areas, and more, can also be leveraged to ensure optimal performance.

“John Mackirdy has been a loyal Carrier Transicold customer for more than 20 years, so we’re delighted to assist the team in taking this step into the future of fleet management,” said Mary Parker, National Key Account Manager, Carrier Transicold. “Lynx Fleet will help the company make a positive contribution both to its clients’ businesses, as well as reducing its own carbon footprint.”
