Why Healthy K-12 Classrooms Matter
The COVID-19 pandemic increased the focus on the health and well-being of students, teachers, and staff in schools around the world. Many school districts are now challenged with improving the indoor environment in buildings that were not designed with health in mind. With the right strategies in place, a healthier indoor environment can have a significant impact on the well-being and performance in K-12 schools.
Our confidence with the performance of our Carrier air purifiers significantly reducing (42%-67%) airborne particles (PM2.5) from filtered air in nine K-12 classrooms1 is based on independent testing at a public school located in Denver, Colorado – the historic Cheltenham Elementary School. In the study, the Carrier air purifiers were deployed to easily provide additional filtration that doubled the effective air exchange rate. Carrier air purifiers (set to provide 500, 750 and 1,000 CFM) were deployed to bring the aerosol exposure in older classrooms to that of newer construction.
