Love Carrier... on the fence with Artic Air
I had to replace my whole A/C and furnace. Arctic Air gave the appropriate recommendations where we agreed to the units to be replaced and a price. Mistake 1: It was scheduled to be installed on Wednesday between 8 and 10AM. 11AM they are a no show. We call them and there was a mistake, guys did not show up, and other excuses so they had in their books for Thursday. However, they failed to contact me. So I am sitting at home not at work for an install that they did not plan on coming to anyway. They put their feet to the pavement though and had the crew out at my home in a few hours with the equipment installed by dinner. They did knock a little off the price. (Knock some off of Service Expertise) Mistake 2: We were definitely enjoying the energy savings and the city inspector came a few days later. It failed inspection. You can have all the fancy equipment in the world, but failing inspection is a big one to me and it is hard to pass a review if the inspection fails in my books. They did come out promptly and fix the mistakes and they were easy fixes; however, this is something I feel the company should have known. (Knock some off of Knowledge of Products) Mistake 3: During the evaluation I was advised and purchased a 14 SEER A/C unit. When the service was being corrected due to mistake number 2, I discovered the model number of the A/C unit was a 13 SEER model! Arctic Air installed the wrong unit. Arctic Air did agree to install the correct unit. So a few days more, more time away from work for Arctic Air to come again and install the new unit. They did bump me up to what matches a "up to 16 SEER" Carrier A/C model versus the 14 that was originally ordered. (Knock some off of Knowledge of Products AND Service Expertise) Mistake 4: Because of Mistake 2 and 3, the city had to come out and inspect again. Arctic Air informed me that the city would be out on Friday. So time away from work, again. Close to noon on Friday I get a call from Arctic Air that the city does not do re\-inspections on Fridays. This is something I feel Arctic Air should have known. So another day is scheduled with again, more time away from work. (Knock some off of Service Expertise) I love Carrier! I have seen dramatic drops in my energy usage even after a few weeks. I would DEFINITELY recommend Carrier as product. The equipment is quiet, seems well built, and energy saving. Arctic Air did solve every problem. Their staff is friendly. Their technicians are super friendly and nice. However, the mistakes made unfortunately overshadow my experience with Arctic Air. It is hard for me to recommend Arctic Air as an installer and would advise seeking another installer.
